Common Questions
What is EMS?
EMS refers to emergency medical services or pre-hospital care. The official term, EMS, references licensed emergency medical responders (EMR), emergency medical technicians (EMT-B), advanced emergency medical technicians (AEMT), and paramedics (EMT-P). These EMS certifications require passing a national registry exam and state licenses. This is the reason general first aid / BLS is not considered "EMS" even though for example, intuitively providing CPR is an emergency medical service in the general sense
Will Asclepius's School of EMS provide EMS certifications?
In short, no; Asclepius is not licensed to provide official courses at the current moment. Asclepius incorporates core principles of EMS into our courses, and our instructor is in the process of becoming a nationally registered EMT-B. To take the NREMT: EMR, EMT-B, AEMT, or EMP-P exams require students to pass a course from a licensed provider. We do however, hope to add in licensed courses in the future.
Why Choose Asclepius's School of EMS
At Asclepius, we believe that emergency medical / pre-hospital training should be accessible along with health services like nutrition and fitness coaching. We are experienced in working with demographics from youth to elderly, and athletes to casual gym goers. We also are experienced in working with restriction diets such as veganism, Our goal is not to make money so we will only charge the amount that we need to run operations (cost of uploading certifications to the red cross, purchasing and maintaining instruction materials). In order to provide free and discounted classes, we rely heavily on donations from the board members, and from the public.
